Rituals were a two piece Black Metal band from Tucson AZ. They released this self titled demo tape in 2006 and only roughly 10 physical copies exist. The demo Is 2 songs of rough produced nihilist black metal at it's finest. No idea how long they were around or if they ever made anything else.

Nepenthe (cali)

Nepenthe is a noisy black metal side project of certain bands from California formed in 2011. Rough blown out lo-fi black metal mixed with synth interludes. This is not to be confused with the band from the 90's that later changed their name to Ligeia. They disappeared as soon as they had arrived with only a self-released 8 song demo tape limited to a mere 30 copies that quickly sold out. There was suppose to be a 2nd tape called "turn to dust" but so far a psychical copy has yet to see the light of day minus a few songs from the bandcamp page that is included in the download.

The Phantom Carriage is a screamo/black metal/chaotic hardcore band with a splash of jazz from Poitiers, France. Really good stuff, has a little bit of everything. Throatruiner Records labels them as "Jazz for screamo kids wearing corpse paint". They were also formally known as A Mere Understatement. For fans of Deathpell, Omega, Orchid, & Comity.

Vondur

Vondur was a Black Metal band from Sweden. The band was formed in 1993 by IT as a one-man project. He released one demo tape, and in 1995 was joined by ALL. After joining they recorded their only LP Stridsyfirlysing (the album's title is icelandic for "Declaration of War"). The next year they released an EP called The Galactic Rock N' Roll Empire. The name Vondur is Icelandic for "evil". Members other bands include: Ophthalamia, Abruptum, Incision, Brejn Dedd, War, 8th Sin, Total War. This is considered a Joke band in the black metal community.

Manes

Manes was a Black Metal turned Electro Rock-Metal band from Trondheim, Norway, which was formed in 1993. The band started out as a solo project of Cernunnus (Tor-Heldge Skei) called Obscuro, which soon became Perifa & then Manes when it became a two-piece Black Metal band composed of Sargatanas and Cernunnus. After their Demos & 1st LP "Under Ein Blodraud Maane" they became a full band (Sargatanas left at this point) & completely changed it's sound to a hybrid of Jazz, Trip-hop, electronica and Metal with clean sung vocals and many progressive overtones due to member Cernunnus having a lack of motivation and apathy towards the growing metal-scene. In spite of the shift being highly acclaimed by critics this subsequent change of direction has alienated most of their original fan base. For this post I am of course dealing with just the Black Metal version of the band. The newer more odd metal sound is good and all but Manes as a BM band is far more fantastic. If you enjoy this stuff you most likely wont like the newer stuff as they sound like two completely different bands. Members were also in: Atrox, Suffocation, holissstik, kkoagulaa, Keep of Kalessin, Griffin, Godsend, Wåttamezz, Drontheim, Calmcorder, Chton, The 3rd and the Mortal.

Sargeist

Sargeist is a Finnish black metal band formed in 1999. Originally created as a solo project by Shatraug, he was joined by other members since 2000, who were subsequently released from the band. After the recording of Tyranny Returns the other members where replaced by Hoath Torog and Horns, both from the Finnish black metal band Behexen, both of which have remained to this day. Musically and lyrically, Sargeist stays close to the roots of Scandinavian "old school" black metal. Lyrical subjects often deal with Satanism, anti-Christian blasphemy, darkness, depression, misanthropy and nihilism. The band's name combines the two German words, "sarg" (coffin) and "geist" (spirit, ghost), and derives from the song "The Old Coffin Spirit" by the black metal band Rotting Christ. Aaskereia is a Pagan Melodic Black Metal band from Germany formed in 1997. Aaskereia focuses on the melodic sound of their guitars very much & the vocals range from clear singing passages to howling with the band’s lyrics mostly focusing on death, battles that are fought, dark and tragic romance, or the woods and everything that is inside them or happening inside them. Aaskereia is sometimes accused of being national socialistic, but their website states that they dissociate themselves from any political ideology. These guys are fantastic, & one of my favorite black metal bands today. Evil Wrath

Evil Wrath Is a Black Metal Band from Canada formed in early 2005. They have had many line up changes with only Nekros & Morbid being the only recurring members. Their lyrics mainly deal with Anti-Humanism, hatred against humanity, War & fighting. After forming they released the L'essence Du Mal Demo. In 2006 they released their 2nd demo A.M.S.G. followed by the full length Défaillance Monumentale. In February of 2008 they released a split 10” with the band Pagan Rites. 2009 saw the release of their 2nd full length Chaotical Invasion which featured a guest appearance on two songs by Amduscias from Temple of Baal. This year Evil Wrath have released a compilation release featuring all of their demo material called A pact with Satan... The fall of Man. Members were also in Nekros Pervertor, V.A.C.K., Sephyroth, & Nocturnal Blasphemy.

Scourge

Scourge was a Black Metal influenced Hardcore band from California. As I'm sure most know there are a ton of bands under the name Scourge, but this is my favorite of them (2nd would be that new up & coming hardcore band from NY). These guys only lasted for a brief amount of time and only recorded this one demo (only limited to 50 copies) which is a shame. feat. members of Gather, & What We have
