The Other Side Of The Sky

The Other Side Of The Sky was an Ambient Sludge Metal band from Daytona Beach formed in 2002. The band was formed by the members as a forum for their developing ideas and a desire to play music they wanted to hear. As a band they have played over 80 shows, toured the Eastern USA/Canada, self released their EP & first LP, and had one LP released by Retribute Records. Lots of droning riffs, wonderful haunting melodies, subtle effects-induced builds and harsh vocals that take a back seat to the music itself. The self titled EP is a bit different from the two albums as that the vocals are way more frequent. This is one of the bands from around here that I always tryed to never miss a show for, something you could definitely be proud of your music scene for. They were simply fantastic live, and made me so bummed when they went on "hiatus". Member Justin was also in the bands Years From Now, & Total Recall. this is easily one of my favorite posts I have done.

Railsplitter was a southern heritage influenced Sludge Doom Metal band from Orlando Florida that formed in 2002 & broke up in 2006. I don't really known much about them, but they were an awesome band. I got into these dudes along time back when looking through the old Dead Tank Records website and they caught my eye(or ear) with the song Long Time Comin'. They only released two albums as a band and disappeared. Members went on or were in Dragbody, Rasquatch, Six Dead Horses and Snaggletooth.

Deathbeds

Deathbeds are a doom/sludge/hardcore hybrid band from Philadelphia, PA formed in 2007. In 2008 they released a self titled EP digitally on a "pay what you want" basis Through Communitas Media. In 2009 the follow up "No Funeral" was released also as a digi download and as a 7" from Young Lungs Ltd. The Record is limited to 300 copies on green vinyl, with hand stamped center labels, and comes with a free digital download. Their music can be described as combining sludge-fueled metal and riff-oriented hardcore. Make sure to check these dudes out this is some awesome stuff.

Khann

Khann is a heavy sludge vegan metal band from Orlando formed in 2006 (I think?) I could be totally wrong though. This demo was made during the earlier days of Khann for a tour with Republicorpse & given to me by ex-member Pat at one of the tour dates in Daytona. It was made way before the singer of Bodies in the Gears of the Apparatus (Josh) joined & left. After both Pat and Josh left they would form the hardcore band Axis.
